GL 11plus and Entrance Exams
Does my child have to take the 11 Plus?

The 11 plus, is a selective entrance examination for secondary schools across the country. The assessment is taken at the beginning of Year 6 when students embark on their final year of primary school. It is used by both state-funded grammar schools and many private schools to determine admission.
The examination specifically tests your child’s ability to think critically, respond to instructions and work under time pressure, based on the following components: Verbal Reasoning, Non-Verbal Reasoning and Mathematics. The format and content of the assessment differs across the country with some geographical areas completing different examinations than others; however, Wirral students sit the GL examination which focuses on three elements: Verbal Reasoning, Non-Verbal Reasoning and Mathematics.

We provide honest and supportive feedback as, like you, we want the best for your child. If we feel students may need other forms of tuition support, you can be reassured that we will always be honest and help you to navigate your way through each step of the process.

We supply homework to consolidate what has been covered in each session and to help provide insight for you, as a parent, to see your child’s progress.
